Looking for DJ classes? Stop! Hold on a second. Before you go and give your hard earned money to some dj instructor to give you DJ classes (or one DJ class) there are some important things you need to know.
See, a lot of new DJs run out and spend their life savings – or even worse, their credit card – on DJ classes that don’t end up helping them learn how to DJ. They come out after their last DJ class not being able to DJ that well and completely out of money.
You need to check a few things with the DJ classes before you sign up and throw your money down. To help you, in this post I’m going to lay out the common pitfalls and how you can avoid them below.
Don’t listen to the DJ haters when they say “DJing is dead. Robots can do the same as DJs now”. While these tech nerds are right, electronic music systems can perform a lot of the same functions as DJs, people still keep piling in to see DJs play.

DJ Tips are a dime a dozen. There are literally thousands of DJ tip websites scattered online. To add to this there are hundreds of DJ books showing you how to DJ via DJ tips. In the end a lot of the DJ tips aren’t even that great. A lot are out dated.
Don’t listen to what they say on the DJ message forums! The DJ tip “teach yourself how to DJ” is one of the oldest in the book and it couldn’t be more wrong! Crusty old vinyl DJs that never got anywhere back in the day will tell you to teach yourself because thats how they learned. And the thing about humans is that most of us can’t admit that we’re wrong. So we give advice like “teach yourself how to DJ”.
DJ Tip # is to go find someone to mentor you. Go out and get DJ lessons or get some DJ training videos online. You’ll be DJing 10x faster and will have way more fun in the process!
