5 Ways To Take Your Career As A DJ Online

How To Boost Your DJ Profile

Since you’ve started on this road to DJ stardom, I’m sure there have been times when you’ve wondered if you’ll ever get a steady stream of gigs, never mind becoming a big name DJ. Those are the times when it is hard to get motivated to work and try something new that will make you stand out. The good news is that in this digital age there are plenty of things you can do to give your DJ career a little boost.

Many DJs have turned to the internet to boost their profile, reach out to other DJs, promoters and venue owners. But those who are truly inspired will find a variety of ways to take their career as a DJ online. Going online will, as I said, boost your DJ profile not just in your city but all over the web. The larger your reach (and address book) is online, the greater your chances are to get bigger and better DJ gigs.

Teach

You know that old saying those who can do, those who can’t teach? Well forget you’ve ever heard it. Those who can DJ are willing to do whatever is necessary so that they can keep working towards their dream, and this sometimes means teaching. I mean, who would you rather teach you how to DJ, an actual DJ who may not be getting as many gigs as he’d like or some person who knows the equipment but has zero DJ knowledge?

If you want to take your career as a DJ online then you ought to consider teaching. Teach DJ courses to those weekend warriors who simply want the skills or teach aspiring DJs the ins and outs of DJ equipment as well technical skills.

Teaching doesn’t mean you don’t have what it takes to be a DJ, but it does mean that you’re smart enough to know that teaching online DJ courses will keep your skills sharp when those regular gigs start rolling in.

Create for Others

I know that you’ve been working hard to create your own unique sound and you have dreams of producing your own records. But until that time comes you can always create tracks, beats or whatever for other DJs and musicians. Before you dismiss this idea too quickly, consider that creating music for others will put you in contact with people in the music industry, which may translate into some prominent gigs for you.

And just like teaching DJ courses online, creating or producing for others will keep your skills sharp and teach you the ropes for when your time comes.

Use Your Other Skills

Do you have a great personality that could bring a huge audience to a podcast? Do you have graphic design skills that could lean into a lucrative second career? If so then you already have the perfect way to take your career as a DJ online.

During the early days of my career I encountered plenty of stubborn DJs who refused to use their other skills to make money. So instead of designing logos or creating a marketing strategy for other DJs, these guys ended up flipping burgers or waiting tables. Which would you rather be doing?

No one is saying you have to give up your dreams go punch the clock, but use your creative mind to find a way to parlay those other skills of yours into money making options.

Blog

Are you one of those people who think that blogging is just a waste of time or another internet fad? If so you are truly missing out on a great way to build up a base of followers, expand your profile and yes, make money. When done correctly blogging can be a fantastic way to take your DJ career online.

What do you blog about? DJing, life as a DJ, DJ equipment reviews, music reviews, inside looks at DJ festivals and conferences and whatever else you feel like talking about on any given day.

You may not think you have anything important to say, but trust me when I tell you that there are plenty of people out there who need the advice you’re offering so, why not help them out and make a little cash at the same time?

Sell! Sell! Sell!

If you’re tired of waiting for some elitist club owner to let you prove yourself to him or her, take your DJ skills online to get the word out about yourself. Of course you’ve worked hard to hone your DJ skills and you want to feel the rush that comes from standing above a crowd from the comfort of the DJ booth. But maybe your DJ career won’t go the same path as others.

By taking your career as a DJ online and selling your tracks and merchandise your music may find its way to someone with the power to give you what you want; a steady gig.

The point I’m trying to make is that you have plenty of options open to you as a DJ; don’t just wait for someone to notice you…make them notice you.
