We all do things for different reasons. You, I and everyone else has different needs and these different needs dictate how we live our life on a day to day basis.
Deep right? Not really.. its simple. Some people need freedom. Others need security. Some people feel the need to be loved stronger than others. I feel the need to help people by giving them dj training.

We all want to learn to DJ or got into DJing to fulfill different needs. I will be the first to admit that I got into DJing in the first place because I was lonely in highschool and wanted to be able to make friends and date girls. I loved the idea of playing in front of a big crowd because I needed the attention back then.
But here is the bottom line… regardless of what need drove you djing (girls, party rockstar life, freedom, money etc) you need to know that you will never be successful as a DJ unless you truly LOVE this music. It always comes back to loving the music.
Some of my DJ friends criticize the fact that I am so open about the reasons why I first got into DJing. They say “screw girls…. DJing is about the music man”.
I believe that deep down we all have our own motivations for wanting to become a DJ aside from loving the music but they do make a good point.
One of the best dj lessons I have every learned from the top pros was that you have to LOVE the music you are playing no matter what. You might be in it for the girls, the lifestyle or whatever but if you don’t love the music you play, people on the dance floor will know!
Do you agree?

hi, i’m an advanced dj, playing at the clubs from argentina and i’ve just registered me to your newsletter. i did this because i really have the same thought as you do about loving the music. i realised it’s all about that because if you really love it you are going to listen more and more of that music, lets say, progressive house, so you are going to listen lots of tracks, and if you like them you are going to memorize them, knowing for instance, where the tensions of the song are, and all that stuff, making your mixes great. so thanks and good job
Thats a great point Simone. You’re right… I agree with you and Sean. The more you love the music, the more you know it…the better!
Hi, i’m a dj. from bangladesh and now staying in cyprus. i want to say that its very very importance to LOVE the music. thats a grat point simon , marcco vandettta and sean i agree with you.
I am a dj for about 14 years and I wanna say just 1 thing,or maybe 2:)…So no.1 is that if you don’t love,if you don’t listen to music you are not able to be a dj or any kind of musician right?no.2 it’s the best example that sustain my affirmation and yours too just listen to Connect-R&Chris Mayer-4 the love of music is the song, from my country,Romania that is.
