Steve Angello humiliates Paris Hilton, DJs worldwide rejoice
The princess of bottle service culture herself, Ms. famous-for-no-particular-reason, Paris Hilton, was publicly humiliated by Swedish House Mafia man Steve Angello [a] in move that will leave DJs around the world cheering his name till the end of time.

The LA-based diva turned up at the 1OAK party at Angello’s showcase at WMC on Thursday night/Friday morning, and found his music “was not even danceable and was frankly giving me a migraine.”
Hilton asked one of her friends who runs the hotel to change the music and the manager said between emphatic kisses of her ass, “I’ll lead you up to the DJ booth and he’ll play whatever you want.”
The age old battle between ignorant, over-privileged wannabes and DJs trying to do their best just went front and centre. Brilliant.
Angello claims Hilton repeatedly asked him to play hip-hop. Hilton claims she only asked him to play Bob Sinclar [a] or Daft Punk.
But whatever went down, it led to a big fight. Hilton’s friend Doug Reinhardt and her entourage got a kicking for apparently slapping Steve Angello.
Angello on his Twitter said: “For someone who claims to make records…don’t come into a booth and ask me to play hip-hop and then have your doorman slap me. Or at least if you wanna do that…..don’t moan about it when we all kicked off. Don’t be so fucking rude.”
Hilton’s response on her Myspace blog portrays her ignorance and self-importance in the ugly light of day.
“The DJ (I don’t even know his name cause he sucks so bad) was playing the worst music ever!” she says. “I think he was jealous cause Bob Sinclar is a far better DJ then this guy by about a million times.
“He was so unbelievably rude and all because I asked to play one good song. Then out of nowhere his bodyguard (don’t ask me why he has a bodyguard, like he really needs one. Ha) pushed me really hard, that’s when my boyfriend, like my knight in shining armor, stepped in and told the guy to keep his hands off of me. Then all hell broke loose, it was like something out of a fight movie, it was so frightening.”
Whatever the truth, the fact is Hilton thought her fame granted her the right to use Steve Angello as her monkey DJ for the night.
How many times have we DJs been requested to play terrible records by clueless self-serving wannabes who want nothing more than to bask in their own glory? These kids need to learn how to dj!
Steve Angello just stood up for himself and his music. He went head-to-head with the biggest celebrity in the world and won. DJs around the world should rejoice. This is one of the best dj lessons a new DJ can get!

Yeahhhhh Steve!!!
One day, if I can be as successful as you Steve…I too hope to kick Paris Hilton out of my DJ booth. LOL
Now that is the Thing…Do ya thing…we do not like fuck heads like those wanabes messing up the art and passion of Djing…
HaHa, yeah go steve, dont take the crap, even if they are posh swots, you play your music, just cos she dont like it, doesnt mean we dont, co we love you DJs woop woop
i tend to have a differetn opinion,
1. Djs are there to entertain, not to play their own track selection, this isnt your bedroom, your there to entertain a room, if teh people arent responding, play different music. now granted if the room is off the hook, and one person comes up and requests hip hop. granted ill give you that, its just one person. but would it kill you to mix in one of their tracks just for fun? Its a big responsibility to carry a party, which as a dj you are tasked with doing. and that job some times is not that simple trying to balance out what the crowd wants, with what you want to rock out to the crowd.
2. Angello arguably had two options.
a) play the track, and stay on her good side, and possibly even become friends with her, and promot that angle,
b) getin afight with her..
either way, he gets celebrity status, arguably because our society gravitates to negative things, Angello will likley get more fame by fighting with Paris than getting along with her, so from that stand point he probably did the right thing.
I for one, would probably hvae tried to befriend her.. and got her up there mixing, her own song in.. taken pictures.. got her number and djed her birthday party,, got hook ups to all kinds of exclusive parties etc.. but to each their own.
my two cents
Dj OwenE
yoh!yoh!yoh!STEVE did just what i would do.i mean if the crowd is having the dance of a life time and 1 i mean 1 individual have a problem with my music that who ever should go find their kinda music somewhere.was she drunk?
Sounds like you got bitched, frankly. She does suck dick though in both meanings of the phrase.
Biggest celebrity in the world?? Paris “im a freaking retard” hilton?!? no no no.. the world biggest celebrity is US president Obama. That mans administration is set to out spend all previous presidents combined come later this year. Bam!
@charles
I can understand that DJs are their to entertain, but Paris Hilton isn’t every single person in the club. That’s the point, if he refuses a request from a regular patron then he shouldn’t let Paris make one, and even he was taking requests Paris was insulting him, I wouldn’t have taken a request from someone who was insulting me.
I really don’t know what is the big deal in this story. Every Dj in the world has faced this situation. Who cares!
Charles, i agree with 80% of what you said. you are right about the “party responsability” thing.
But if you are a Dj and accept to play what everybody asks, then you will bring nothing new to the dancefloor, no personality. People who go to parties must also understand that they are teher to listen no new stuff, thay are not at home playing with their own music library.
Respect!!!
Hate that stupid blonde biatch!!!
About your comment on mixing her song into the list, If i had paid to see steve angello and he played Bob Sinclar I myself would be confused and quite disappointed as it is a completely different genre that I dont really want to hear from a dj such as himself.
I’d want pure house and dance music from this guy not bob sinclar! (tho i do love daft punk!)
Dj’s build a unique genre and I think they should stick to that and not just follow all the other thousands of commercial dj’s you’d find in any club. These guys pave the way the rest just follow.
As an amateur DJ myself, I proudly applaud Angello for not backing down to some hack-job bitch who thinks she knows good music (tho Daft Punk are ungodly, and don’t even deserve to be spoken of by ms hilton). The general population have no clue whatsoever when it comes to music. They think all the bullshit they hear on the radio and see on mtv/bet/vh1 is actual music when 95% of it is BS being forced down your throat by a handful of corporations.
To all aspiring DJs:
Fuck hip-hop. We need more (hard) house, (hard) trance, jungle/dnb, even techno! Hip-hop/rap has declined so horribly over the years I automatically look down on a DJ who spins nothing but this trash.
IDM for life
Daft Punk I agree are ungodly, though I feel the genre has a new competitor.. Siriusmo and gummiband http://thedanceaddiction.wordpress.com/2009/07/22/siriusmo-gummiband/
But I still stand by my opinion on DJ’s being genre based.. I feel being a dj is just like being an artist, and you’d never go up to razor light and ask them to make a hip hop song..
It comes down to handling objections. People skills. The skill of turning a difficult customer on side. Refer to #2 best selling book of all time “How to win friends and influence people”. It’s hard for a rude patron to rip into us if we butt in first with a big friendly smile & “How are you mate, I’ll play you a song, what do you want to hear? I cant play that one but I can play this or this for you? Yes I’ll throw it in next”. Or, “I can play that but I’ll play my favourite song next especially for you”.
rudeness attracts rudeness.
friendliness attracts friendliness.
Steve: 400yrs from now you will still be remembered and respected the same way as Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart.
Paris: I feel you pain. Seems that most people deliberately misunderstand you and forget you are a human being with feelings.
Steve Angello is not there to ‘take requests’ during his set at a club. Are you for real? It is his job to play the set as he see’s fit, and bearing in mind how influential the Swedish House Mafia are, and how popular they are, I think he’s been doing a good job of that so far. If you don’t like the music go somewhere else, or maybe take the trouble to find out what the deal is before you go to the club?
It will do Paris Hilton and her ‘knight in shining armour’ some good to realise that not everyone is a yes-man.
This is the best ‘news’ story I’ve read today
To Charles. Are you for real? apparently your an idiot. Angello’s bodyguard should have beat your ass as well. MY TWO CENTS…
Disregard my last statement, I love cocks.
Who knows which songs DJ Angelo was playing ? Maybe Paris Hilton was right because all these songs suck.
For those you who tend to be more conservative about this subject and say that DJ Steve Angello should have appeased Ms. Paris HIlton, I think you don’t actually understand what it means to be in the fucking Swedish House Mafia.
He is not a DJ in the sense that he is meant to entertain the masses with top 40 hits or change his track set on a whim for drunk girls at frat parties or weddings.
He is a musical artist. End of story. He has every right to deny someones request, and knowing Ms. Paris HIlton, she was probably did not understand the breadth of DJ Steve Angello’s international success.
I have witness the magic of DJ Swedish House Mafia Steve Angello and Sebastian Engrosso live in person, and whatever tracks they decide to play, I trust their judgement and their artistry.
If you want to listen to top 40 hits or hip hop tracks, go find another DJ or hire a wedding singer that you personally pay to play your own narrow tastes.
And, if, by chance, Ms. Paris Hilton did not jive with Dj Steve Angello’s performance, that is a matter of taste, not a question of how DJ Steve Angello should have handled the situation. Any artist who is invested in their performance would not appreciate and would not be open to such an outright unnecessay display of social heirarchy.
And if ANY person, be it a bum or the queen of England slapped me while I was concentrating on my life’s work would get the pain three times back. DJ Steve Angello’s “bodyguard” was only protecting a man who travels aroudn the world trying to bring happiness through the power of music.

Kill me now, she’s a complete joke and is everything that is wrong with 99.9% of woman wanting to be in the ‘industry’. You can’t train to be a DJ, you’re either one or you’re not. Usually the later. Actually, let her do it and then let me show her up in a MASSIVE way in a vs set. Job done, see you later. Good luck trying to drop some hip-hop.
P.S I can’t wait for her vinyl sets ….
