If you haven’t yet heard of the Red Bull Music Academy, its a top notch DJing and production school where a lucky few get to learn from some of the top DJs in the world! The good news for you is that now you can be one of the lucky few because the videos of their lectures are now available online.
Thats right, you can now browse through hundreds of top professional experts that will explain all the ins-and-out of DJing, producing and the music industry. You may not recognize some of the lecturers (guest DJs) at first. This is because they are using their real names. And a lot of the speakers are big industry folks that pull the strings behind the scenes.
This is one of the many little tricks I teach in my Pro DJ Mixing: Quick & Easy video series but DJing For Dummies does it with a vinyl record and pioneer cdj. Prety cool stuff.
Everyone thats learning to DJ has to be able to tell which song they are mixing is going faster than the other. And to be honest its not an easy thing to be able to tell which song is going faster and if the song you’re listening to in your headphones is faster or slower than the track playing out loud in your dj mix.
This dj training video shows you a little trick that new DJs use to learn how to DJ a lot quicker. It eliminates the guess work out of knowing if the song in your headphones is faster or slower than the song playing out loud.
I get flack for teaching this all of the time. New DJs that are setting out learning how to DJ don’t like to hear it and a lot of DJ schools will tell you the opposite. Here it is: if you’re just getting started learning how to DJ don’t… i repeat… DON’T spend all of your money on expensive, fancy DJ gear.
Lets be honest here, we all want the top of the line Allen & Heath mixer and the top level Pioneer CDJs. They are incredibly attractive, even sexy, when they are all sitting on a table together with their lights all lit up. You see all the top pro DJs tweaking knobs and playing with all of the different features. They have tons of effects and other bells and whistles to play with.
It all looks so cool and we all assume that the better DJ equipment that we buy the better of a DJ we’ll become. The reality is that this belief couldn’t be father from the truth. The truth is that buying top of the line, fancy DJ equipment like this when you’re learning how to DJ will end up making you a worse DJ.
So many new DJs struggle to learn how to DJ because they don’t invest in DJ training. The results are night and day. Without dj training it can take years to learn how to dj and get a gig. With DJ training you can be mixing in as little as a few weeks and get your first gigs in month. Pretty exciting isn’t it!
So then why do so many DJs on message forums hate on dj training like dj lessons, dvds or online video dj training courses? Its simple! Who is doing the majority of the posting on those message forums? Is it experienced professional club DJs that took DJ training themselves and have been training new DJs since? Haha no. A lot of DJs forget why party venues hire DJs. Its because DJs are entertainers.
Having a DJ in the room creates a better, more energetic feel to a room than having music play off of a juke box. This is a fact.
So if the DJ can create all this energy, why is it that so many DJs just look at their laptops like they are checking their email?
The best DJs, the ones that have the biggest following and the most loyal tribe are the ones that let loose and pump up the energy like the guy in this video.
Okay he might not look cool because he is a little older and his movements make it look like he’s having a seizure but he’s doing his best at being an entertainer. You should too!
My mom and sat me down at the dinner table and said “Sean…Why do you want to learn how to DJ? You’re wasting your time… You should be focused on school and your job”. At the same time, my friends used to make fun of me for dj mixing techno music because hip hop was cool at my school.
I didn’t listen to any of them…
I went out and spent my hard earned money on DJ Lessons (I couldn’t afford many), I bought DJ DVDs, I read disc jockey message forums, I looked up DJ tutorials online and I even followed DJs around to watch them playing in nightclubs…
So you want to know How To DJ! At the very least you are interested in DJing….

Dj Ben from Taiwan emailed me the other day letting me know that he had been inspired by all of the great information that LearnToDjFast.com has given to new DJs. Last night I treated some friends and took them to the grand opening of a brand new club here in our city. Despite there being a MASSIVE line up outside of the nighclub, we all rolled right past the line.
I love getting my friends into nightclubs and hooking them up with free drinks. If you want to be able to do things like this as a DJ, sign up for free DJ Training Videos by clicking HERE right now!
After the grand opening we headed to another nightclub where Superstar DJ Joachim Garraud from France was Djing. Again, getting my crew past the massive line wasn’t an issue.
I thought it was going to be a solid night out at the nightclub where I would groove while watching the DJ and talk with djs in training with aspiring DJs at the club. I didn’t expect anything out of the ordinary.
I ended up getting BLOWN away by the DJ show that Joachim put on. The guy busted out this piano guitar (a DJ keyboard that was hung around his neck like a guitar) and started jamming out on it while he was mixing!
The crowd went nuts. Its so simple but its creative, fun and it takes DJing and DJ training to a whole other level.
