I was talking with a DJ Producer friend yesterday that is huge. His DJing schedule is one constant world tour and he really is living the dream! He plays in places like Ibiza all the time at all of the biggest and best clubs. And he gets to work in the studio with some of the top artists in the world. He’s good friends with all of the top names and he gets paid a lot to DJ.
Dijing has obviously been great to him. He’s really involved with some big record labels and he had some DJ advice to pass along to me on how to become a Dj – a big name superstar DJ!
Now this advice may be getting ahead of where you’re at now. I just wanted to throw it out there before I forget so that you’ll have it in mind as your DJing progresses.

A lot of new DJs ask me how they can make their own beats. Thats called being a music producer and its a lot different from being a DJ. Both require completely different skillsets and personal strengths yet both are crucial for your success as a professional DJ.
Well Laidback Luke walks you into his studio which is nothing more than a room in his family house with a small computer screen, a small keyboard and a Microphone. You get to see one of Luke’s unreleased tracks! Joachim Garraud, another superstar French DJ is behind the camera.
He plays off of his laptop so he doesn’t need DJ equipment at home. He doesn’t even use his speakers because he doesn’t want to wake his kids up at night. Luke one best DJ / Producer in 2008 and this is where he did it from!
So you don’t need a super fancy expensive setup. You don’t need every piece of DJ gear around. You don’t even need speakers to be the best DJ in the world…

But lessons from them can still be learned such as Stay Creative! Follow your own beat and it may take you to a stage in front of 100,000people at the Love Parade in Berlin!

Sometime I laugh because DJs like this were just a few years ago, learning their way around a mixer and turntables in their parent’s basements, reading How To guides on everything from mixers, recording their mixes, digital vs analog production, different pieces of DJ and audio production (while playing video games in between). Now they are some of the worlds biggest rockstars, djing all over the world and spending their days recording audio tracks in the studio!
