If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably heard about the Island of Ibiza off the coast of Spain. For those of you that don’t know about it, it is the clubbing hot spot and DJing mecca of the world. Nighclubs and bars stay open 24 hours a day and all summer party goers fly in from every area of the world. I’ve been there and it is EVERYTHING DJs make it out to be.

The DJ booths that are loaded with the best DJ gear imaginable (8 dj turntables, 5 CDJs, rotary mixers etc) and look out over dance floors of thousands of beautiful clubbers. People go specifically to see the DJs so its a full on party! Half of the dance floor knows knows how to DJ mix and are crazy about the music!

In this video, DJ Erick Morillo rocks Pacha Ibiza. There are some crazy shots from the DJ Booth. Shots like this inspire me to help DJs like you get to DJ booths in places like Ibiza!

There are so many DJing opportunities (free money from government grants, big gigs, travel etc) lying in front of new DJs like you that understand the game of becoming a DJ. If you want to quickly understand the game then sign up for free DJ Lesson Videos by clicking HERE right now!

Becoming a successful DJ can be a simple process. There are only a few key steps that someone learning to dj must take to go from an aspiring DJ to a professional club or rave DJ.

1) Choose the right Dj Gear that will help you learn to mix quickly.
2) Learn To Beatmatch (get dj lessons)
3) Train yourself to mix
4) Put together a CD
5) Create a brand / image for yourself
6) Build a Following
7) Promote and Market yourself effectively to your following

It always amazes me how few people get these simple steps right. (Either you get it or you don’t).

Case in point… I volunteer for an agency called MusicBC which is a part of FactorMusicCanada. I’ll give you an example. One DJ was applying for a grant to help her produce (create) a song in a professional studio. Under her plan she said “Upon recieving the money I will use final cut pro to produce my album.” Final Cut Pro is movie editing software and can’t be used for audio editing.

Another example is…

A lot of new DJs are confused about what a Record Label does. One common misconception is that a Record Label signs DJs. Record Labels generally don’t sign DJs. A Record Label’s function is to release (sell) music that I and other producers are making.

I searched hard for some information to share with you on record labels to help you get started and I found a gem!

Industry Boy from Beatportal recently sat down with Superstar DJ and Label Boss Nic Fanciulli to get some pointers about starting a record label. He shared 15 crucial points. They are as follows:

1. One good reason for launching your own record label is for the release of your own music. However, you should only do this once you’ve established that there is a demand for your music in the first place. Nic Fanciulli along with his recording partner Andy Chatterley, released many successful tracks under their The Buick Project moniker before they launched Saved Records.

2. Another good reason for launching your own label is to retain control. When you run a label, you get to decide which artists will do remixes and when to release tracks.

3. The main intial business plan of a record label should be to…
